Gary Clark established Clark Manufacturing Company in 1975. In a 1,200 square foot rented facility in northern Michigan, a few employees manufactured and assembled locks for cash registers used across the country. With the purchase of CNC machinery in the early 1980’s, Clark was able to take on more complicated work, and at higher production levels. We branched out into several markets and began specializing in CNC turning and milling, working on prototyping and short-run production projects.
By the time Mr. Clark retired in October 2003, Clark Manufacturing Company had grown to 23,000 square feet, with nearly twenty CNC lathes and machining centers. The company was purchased by four employees, who continue to stand by Clark’s reputation of quality and service. Rapid growth in several of the industries serviced by Clark during 2005 and 2006 prompted the need for additional manufacturing space, and quickly! Beginning in February of 2006, we ramped up our second facility, just a few miles away. This expansion resulted in a total of more than 34,000 square feet that houses 75 employees and 23 CNC lathes and machining centers. Throughout this major transition, Clark has insisted on maintaining delivery of a quality product, on time, and at a competitive price, all in an atmosphere of continuous improvement.
